Softball Anyone?

Westfield Fire is looking for other Departments to play softball throughout the spring, summer and fall. If we get enough interest, we may even coordinate a tournament. If you're interested, please email Assistant Chief Darrell Ponzio (darrell.ponzio@westfieldfire.net).

Al Rasch Passes

The Westfield Fire Department regretfully announces the passing of former Chief Al Rasch.  Al passed on November 14, 2009.  Al joined the Department in 1939.  He served in a variety of roles, including Chief from 1972 to 1977 where he oversaw the move from the 4-bay Miner Street Station to the current-day headquarters at 653 East Street.  Al proudly served his country as a sergeant in the South Pacific theater of operations in WWII.  Al was very proud (and rightly so) of his service in the military.  He lived in Westfield for most of his life, moving to Washington in 2007 to live with his daughter.  A wake will be held on Friday November 20 at Biega's in Middletown and a funeral will be held on Saturday November 21.  Click here to see Al's obituary in the Hartford Courant.
